DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) - UPDATE: Daphne Police said Michael Bain was arrested in Mobile and is being transported to Daphne to be processed.
A newlywed was killed in Baldwin County on his birthday. According to reports, the suspect in the murder investigation is the man's friend.
Jean Yarbrough said her son was in good spirits when she saw him Friday.
Daniel Tuttle turned 31, and he and his new bride of less than a month had plans to celebrate.
"He said they were going bowling, and different things. Oh yeah, he always briefed his mama on what he was going to do," Yarbrough said.
Tuttle and a group of friends ended up at a pub in Daphne. Police said around 3 a.m. the night of celebration turned violent. But, initially police were given a completely different story about what happened.
"We were told it was possibly and LSA or leaving the scene of an accident. Several people thought he had been run over by a car. But since then through the investigation, we've determined he was actually struck in the head which is what he died from," Lt. Judson Beedy said.
Tuttle was unconscious when police found him in the parking lot. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
According to police, an argument between Tuttle and a friend Michael Bain escalated. Bain was apparently with Tuttle and others during the birthday celebration.
"It seems like certain events happened over the night, and they became frustrated with each other, and it kind of came to a head early this morning out in the parking lot," Beedy said.
"The boy has been over here several times. I don't know him real well, but he's been over here before," Yarbough said.
Family members and friends gathered at Yarbrough's home in Bay Minette Saturday. She said they all still have a lot of questions about her son's tragic death.
"He was a good person and would never hurt anyone. Sober or not sober, he was a good person. And he's got a little 6-year-old boy that he loved. And he is going to be missed by his whole family," Yarbrough said.
