DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (WALA) - The Town of Dauphin Island is looking for a new police chief.

Fox10 News has learned former Police Chief Darryl Wilson resigned, effective February 9, 2013.  He has led the police department since June 2012.

Wilson would not give Fox10 News many details on why he resigned.  However, he did say he got a better opportunity elsewhere. Wilson has more than two decades of experience in southern Mobile County on the Bayou La Batre police force.

Lieutenant Kym Claw is serving as the interim police chief.
