MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Murder suspect Jennifer Morgan Fram remains in Mobile Metro Jail following a bond hearing Thursday morning. Her charge stems from a fatal crash on Dawes Lake Road that killed her boyfriend, Nick Markow.
Cuffed and clad in a neck brace, Fram stood in front of Judge Michael McMaken hoping he would allow to her to get out of jail.
"She should be under a doctor's care right now, and she just started receiving her medication this morning. She's in jail pretty rough with it right now," close friend Allison Ball said.
Ball was in court to support Fram. The suspect has a criminal past that prosecutors wanted the judge to consider as the state requested no bond.
"At the time the defendant was charged with this offense she was on probation for a previous DUI," Assistant District Attorney Jo Beth Murphree said.
Fram was sentenced to serve a six month suspension and one year probation for that DUI.
During this time, she confessed to FOX10 to drinking before the crash that killed her boyfriend in April.
"We do have two officers observations and we also have her admission as to being under the influence," Murphree added. "We also have it on television. Based on the intoxication, based on the fact that she was already on probation for drinking under the influence of alcohol, and there she is again. It has such a horribly disastrous consequence."
"She is no murderer," Ball added.
Ball was the only one present on Fram's behalf. Fram told the judge she had no money to afford a lawyer. Therefore, the judge said he will revisit the bond request Monday at her arraignment.
According to Ball, Michael Kaoui was Fram's lawyer from her previous DUI charge and she is hoping to retain him again.
"I'm speaking with her parents and some of her friends to try to get the money up to where he can be here on Monday,” said Ball.
If Fram does not have an attorney, the judge will appoint one.
Markow's family was present at the hearing, but did not want to comment
Despite Fram's admission, she will have opportunity to enter a plea at Monday’s arraignment.
