Deputies warn of Semmes car burglaries

SEMMES, Ala. (WALA) - Recent reports of car burglaries have been coming in from the Semmes area. The most recent happened Wednesday night, July 18.

"They stole billfolds, whatever they could get their hands on. We do know they've already gone to the Walmart in Prichard and Chickasaw and started using the credit cards," said Lori Myles with the Mobile County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies are in the process of getting that surveillance video. Deputies said some of the vehicles from Wednesday night were locked and some were unlocked. The break-ins happened in the Harmony Ridge subdivision. The week before it was a nearby subdivision.

"We don't know if there's a connection but we're going on that so we have several breaking and entering out in Semmes," Myles said.

Deputies do have at least one description of a possible suspect but until arrests are made, a warning is being put out.

"Definitely don't leave your billfold or purse or anything that they can take and go charge up right away," said Myles.

Deputies are looking for a gold Chevy Malibu they believe could be connected to at least one of the reported incidents. If you have any information, call the Mobile County Sheriff's Office.
