MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The City of Mobile is partnering with local businesses to collect recovery supplies for victims of Superstorm Sandy.
Every year since Hurricane Katrina, members of the New York Fire Department have packed trunks full of Christmas gifts for children in Alabama and Mississippi. Due to Sandy, that trip has been canceled this year. Now, residents on the gulf coast have a chance to give back.
“We are very happy to work with Shoe Station and the Stephen Siller Foundation to support our friends in the Northeast during their time of need,” says Ed Murphy, who is leading the local collection campaign.
Murphy says, “Just as communities have come to our aid, we stand ready to help make them whole and to rebound even better than before. ”
The collection drive will be from November 15 – 29, 2012. Drop off sites include both Shoe Station locations and all Mobile Fire-Rescue stations.
