MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile police have arrested and charged the suspected driver in the Racine Avenue shooting.
Pat Brown, 21, is the second suspect charged in the shooting death of Wendy Fisher that happened back in July.
“This afternoon around 1:20, we went to the fairgrounds where Mr. Brown was working and arrested him,” said Cpl. Chris Levy with MPD.
Mobile police said on July 7, they discovered Wendy Fisher with a gunshot wound to the chest just yards away from her Racine Ave home.
The shooting occurred after Fisher reportedly yelled at Brown to slow down as he drove down the street.
Authorities said a passenger in Brown’s vehicle, 17-year-old Trayon Washington , got out of the car and fired the shot.
Fisher’s relatives said Wednesday’s arrest falls on her 41birthday.
Family members began a new tradition this year, releasing blue balloons in honor of the fallen mother.
“We have our moments when we're looking fine, but we're never fine,” said Fisher’s mother Carol Fisher. “Our heart is breaking in two. We miss our daughter; we miss Wendy -- especially today on her birthday.”
Brown is being held in Mobile Metro Jail on murder and probation violation charges.
MPD said the investigation will continue. If anyone has information about the incident, please call the Mobile Police Department at 208-7211, Crime Stoppers at 208-7000, or text to 274637 and include the keyword CRIME 411.
