GRAND BAY, Ala. (WALA) - The Mobile County Health Department reports a chicken in the county has tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis.

Health officials say the chicken, one of those used to monitor mosquito-borne illness in the area, was in the Grand Bay Area.

The Department monitors Encephalitis in poultry flocks placed through the county to detect the presence of viruses carried by mosquitoes.

Health officials say humans with Encephalitis often have symptoms of high fever, severe headaches, and seizures.
