MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Monday, Mobile Police identified the victim of a weekend shooting on Dauphin Street near a fast food restaurant.
Police said Jamal Little, 22, was shot to death Sunday, December 2. Now, police are looking for whoever pulled the trigger.
Monday, it was business as usual at the Taco Bell on Dauphin Street when, just Sunday morning, Mobile Police were called there for a shooting.
Spray paint marked the spot where authorities believe Little was killed. Cpl. Chris Levy said, so far, investigators have made no arrest. They are turning to technology in hopes of catching the killer.
"They're walking around trying to determine if anyone witnessed it, if any surrounding businesses have any working cameras, because it is a high commercial area," said Cpl. Levy. "It is possible that something was caught on tape."
Levy said it's not yet known if a disturbance call in the area on Sunday was related to the shooting.
A check of Mobile Metro Jail records show Little does have a criminal past including charges for robbery, assault and drug possession.
Meanwhile, friends of the 22-year-old shooting victim are mourning his loss.
"Mal loved and protected us. That's all I can say, he loved us. He loved his grandmother, my grandmother, his mother," said Shameryl Dixon.
Little's mother believes her son may have known something was going to happen.
"The day before this happened he checked on everybody and went to see everybody. It's like he knew something was going to happen," said Nyoka Little.
Little's murder makes the 26th this year in the city of Mobile.
Mobile Police encourage anyone with information on this crime to contact them.
