Firefighters fly flags in Ofc. Green's honor

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile Fire-Rescue units will line Officer Steven Green's funeral procession route Wednesday morning. Officer Green's funeral services begin at 11 a.m. at the Sunlight District Auditorium in Prichard.

A funeral procession will follow to the interment at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens on Old Pascagoula Road as follows:

  • South on Clark Avenue from Seminary Street in Prichard, Alabama to St. Stephens Road
  • West on St. Stephens Road to I-65
  • South on I-65 to Government Street
  • West on Government Street to Three Notch Road
  • North on Three Notch Road to Old Pascagoula Road
  • West on Old Pascagoula Road to Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens

Law enforcement from all over the area are expected to ride in the funeral procession.

There will be about 50 small American flags leading up to Mobile Fire-Rescue's large American flag on Government Boulevard at Knollwood Drive.

The public is invited to show their support by standing on the non-interstate portion of the route, at a safe distance from the stret. Business owners along the route said, the will be front and center.

"We want to pay our respects because he was out there serving and protecting," said business owner Donnell Hunter.

"We just want to make sure people know e support what he was doing," said Manager, Kallie Hudspeth.

There is also a memorial book the public is invited to sign at the Mobile Police Department. The book will be in the headquarters lobby ( 2460 Government Street) from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. through Friday, February 10.

You can also make a donation at any branch of Community Bank and Mortgage. Community will then in turn forward the funds to the Mobile Law Enforcement Foundation to be donated to the Green family.
