MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Wendy fisher's longtime pastor was shocked to learn that a teenager was arrested in this terrible crime.
But he says Wendy’s family is happy that someone has been charged.
Fisher's friends said the 40-year-old mother of two loved life and had so much more to offer this world.
Pastor Buford Lipscomb watched her grow up.
"I knew her more as a child than I really have known her as an adult,” said Lipscomb.
He said he first met Fisher nearly 30 years ago.
Lipscomb said, "She was very vibrant, very inquisitive. She was really a unique gal; she really was."
Lipscomb is close with Fisher's parents, and he said shortly after last night's prayer vigil, the family learned that a suspect has been arrested.
"It was really an answer to prayer,” Lipscomb said. "In the midst of all the darkness and tragedy, that has encouraged them."
He said the family is devastated over this, but God's grace is bringing them through. And now, the man who watched the little girl grow up will have to officiate over her memorial service.
Lipscomb said, "The longer I've done it, it doesn't get any easier. And this is a hard one."
Fisher will be remembered Friday at Connect Church in Daphne on County Road 13 next to Daphne High School. Visitation starts at 10 a.m., with a service following at 11 a.m.
