MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - If you're thinking about giving a dog as a holiday gift, we have an idea for you.  It's a program called "Foster a lonely pet for the holidays."

For the fourth year in a row, the Animal Rescue Foundation is encouraging people to foster a pet for the holidays.  The organization says, it will give the animals a chance to be with a family instead of inside kennel during this special time of year.

If you would like to participate, click here to submit a foster application.  Remember to put down "holiday foster" for the pet's name.

Pets can be picked up by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 23rd and can be returned after noon on December 26th.  And of course, if you feel your foster pet is a perfect fit, you can adopt and give them a perfect home.
