Gordon Oaks nursing home remains open

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - In February, we reported that the Medicare and Medicaid contract for the Gordon Oaks nursing home was revoked because of a number of health and safety citations.

The Alabama Department of Public Health had scheduled a hearing for Monday to discuss revoking Gordon Oaks' nursing home license.

We've learned that the hearing was canceled.

The Department of Public Health says a new operator is running the nursing home at Gordon Oaks.

The state spokesman says a survey will be done soon.

If the deficiencies have been corrected, then the nursing home will be able to bill Medicare and Medicaid again.
