MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Baseball Legend and Hall of Fame slugger Hank Aaron was back home in Mobile Friday at the stadium named in his honor where he threw the first pitch of the Baybears game.
Aaron was in town as a to announce Mobile as the host of the 2014 World Leisure Congress. This will mark the first time the event has ever been held in the United States, and Mobile's very own Aaron was recently named an honorary board member.
Officials say board members from the World Leisure Organization will be traveling from around the world including: Great Britain, Iran, Canada, South Africa, Sierra Leone and from around the United States to share good news about the upcoming event and to see one of Mobile’s legendary leisure heroes .
Officials say morethan 2,000 visitors are expected to visit the 2014 World Leisure Congress in Mobile.
They say Mayor Sam Jones and others will be sharing exciting news about the event and how Mobile area residents can get involved.
