MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile firefighters were called to a report of a house fire on Yorkwood Road South Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters received the call on June 24 at around 2 p.m. but the 94-year-old resident at the single-story house was not home at the time.

She told firefighters she'd fried eggs before a relative came to take her to church and couldn't remember whether she turned the stove off afterward. The stove is where firefighters say the fire appears to have originated.

Damage to the home is estimated at approximately $50,000 but no injuries were reported.

The Bureau of Fire Prevention is conducting the investigation.
