MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Since the stabbing death of Mobile Police Officer Steven Green, the Mobile County Sheriff's Office and the Mobile Police Department have been conducting separate investigations into the incident.

The sheriff’s office said their investigation is now complete.

"The procedure that is done to bring a suspect into the jail, as far as we are concerned, were followed through," said the Mobile County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Lori Myles.

The sheriff’s office said its main focus for the investigation was the final few moments inside the sally-port as Officer Green was preparing to transfer the suspect, Lawrence Wallace, to the custody of those at Mobile Metro Jail.

"The process that we would do our internal investigation would be more like, ‘Did we follow protocol assisting another law enforcement agency?’" said Myles.

Myles also said its investigation included the attack against Officer Green, the chase that followed the prisoner's escape and the stand-off that followed.

It found that proper procedures were followed, but rules may be changed based on those tragic moments in sally-port.

"There may be something that the warden brings up to the sheriff or the sheriff brings up to the warden. I do not know what those procedures would be. But, there is nothing that would change as far as the protocol that happened on the series of events of that day," said Myles.

The Mobile Police Department said its internal investigation is continuing.
