MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A national organization has been called in to help in the search for a local teen that has been missing nearly six weeks.
It's the latest development in the Brittany Robinson disappearance.
KlaasKids Search and Rescu e and Mobile police investigators spent most of the day Wednesday searching a wooded area behind a row of homes on McCovery Road Extension.
Robinson's father, Demetric Hooper, lived in one of the mobile homes with his girlfriend before he and Brittany disappeared back in June.
The teenager was supposed to spend the weekend with her father. According to Brittany’s mother, the teenager was trying to rekindle a relationship with him.
After her disappearance, police said they have had no significant leads on either Brittany or her dad.
KlaasKids is a national search center for missing children. The organization has been involved since the beginning working with the family, but this was the first time they have been asked by investigators to actually conduct a search.
“The police department called and asked for a routine search of this area behind this location. Outside of that there's really nothing else. It's not really based on any sort of leads or anything,” said Klaas Kids Search Director Brad Dennis.
He said when conducting the search, they look for a number of things.
“Just anything that could be attributed back to the Brittany case; just anything that would be out of place in the woods. That wouldn't belong there. It could be clothing. It could be a lot of different things. In this case we didn't find anything,” he said.
Last week FOX10 News talked to Brittany's mother Tiana Hogue.
She said she was discouraged by efforts that so far have led to dead ends. It appears this could be another one.
Also last week, police issued a felony warrant for Brittany's father . It's a warrant for interfering with custody.
Police are still looking for any leads in this case, and Brittney's mother is still praying her daughter will be found.
