MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - LaBarron Chambers will remain behind bars for now. Judge Charles McKnight refused the request from Chambers' attorney to consider allowing Chambers to post bond.
"That matter is going to be set over to the preliminary hearing. The defendant in this case, LaBarron Chambers, was on bond for the offenses of rape and sodomy that occurred in April at a local hotel," said Assistant District Attorney Jill Phillips.
Mobile police said the most recent incident happened Sunday, when officers said Chambers and the victim left a club together. Police said Chambers raped and sodomized the victim at her home.
Phillips said they'll continue to ask for no bond.
"We're certainly glad he's being held without bond at this time and think he's a danger to the community if he were released," Phillips said.
Police said both victims were known by Chambers. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 9 on the most recent charges.
Chambers' first case has been bound over to a grand jury.
