PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - Prichard police say a man is in critical condition tonight after being shot in the hand and throat. Investigators aren't sure where 26-year-old Adam Andrews was shot, but say he drove his car and crashed into a business on Craft Highway just before 5:00 Friday morning.
Police have not said if the man was shot while driving, or if he had been shot and then attempted to drive for help.
When Andrews crashed, workers at Chatom Tire Company called 911.
Employees were just arriving when the incident happened.
Shop manager Greg Jordan says the crash damaged his stepfather's truck, a Chevy Avalanche.
"We are waiting on some info from our insurance company and we will get it on to the collision company. Hopefully, we can get our truck fixed or get a new truck, one of the two," said Jordan.
Witnesses say Andrews went through a grassy area and crossed the street. He then burst through some palm trees and ended up on a sidewalk.
Witnesses say it is amazing that he was able to avoid hitting a semi-trailer.
Officers have not arrested anyone and they are trying to interview the victim.
"Because of his wound to his neck area, we have been having a hard time being able to speak to him. So once he recovers, hopefully he will be able to give us more info," Latoya Veal with Prichard Police Department said.
For now, a man has a gun shot wound to the throat and no one knows why.
"I don't know how he got here, but he did," said Jordan.
If you know anything that may help track down the gunman, call Prichard Police.
