MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Mobile Fire-Rescue department said one person had to be transported to the hospital because of injuries received in a house fire Sunday morning.

Other members of the 49-year-old man were reportedly at church at the time of the fire. He was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation and transported to USA Medical Center.

The man told investigators that a smoke alarm alerted him to the fire. When he went to investigate, he saw the curtains on fire in a bedroom and he left to get something to put out the fire. He was overtaken by smoke inhalation.

Fire-rescue personnel said the fire appears to have started because of an electrical failure. Damage to the home is estimated at about $150,000.
