MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Mobile Police Department said around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, a suspect robbed a man at gunpoint on Bradshire Drive.
Investigators said an unknown male suspect approached the victim after he exited his vehicle. They said the suspect produced a handgun and demanded money.
The victim, who asked to remain anonymous, told FOX10 his three young children witnessed the crime, and he said he believes he may have been targeted.
“I pulled into the driveway. I had my 10-year-old and my 2-year-old with me, along with two pizzas,” said the man. “I was trying to get some stuff out of the car to take inside and turned around, and he was coming through the bushes; basically pointing a gun in my face telling me to give him my money.”
The victim had just left soccer practice with two of his children, when he said he stopped at the Wells Fargo Bank at the corner of Airport Boulevard and Cody Road.
He said he only stopped to make a deposit. However, he believes the suspect may have been watching him from the CVS parking lot across the street.
“I do think they followed me home from the bank,” said the man. “They watched me from the ATM where I made a deposit. I didn't get cash back. I think they followed me home.”
The victim said after the masked suspect confronted him he ran, trying to get the suspect to chase him away from the children.
The victim said he fell. He said the robber reached into his pockets and pulled out $9 in cash before running to a vehicle that was waiting up the street.
Witnesses said a driver was waiting in the older model dark colored vehicle.
The suspect is described as a black male; approximately 5’11, around 150 lbs; thin build; dark complexion. Police said the suspect is late teens or early twenties and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, hood over head, a black ski-mask and dark pants.
