MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office held a news conference today on the seventh floor of Mobile Government Plaza.
District Attorney Ashley Rich released the findings of an investigation into the campaign finances of Mobile Mayor Sam Jones.
She said no criminal charges will be filed. Rich said there is no evidence the mayor used campaign money for personal use.
Jones' attorney Raymond Bell told FOX10 News in May 2012 that the DA’s office was looking into campaign funds.
“We have the disclosures that coincide with the bank accounts and every expenditure is accounted for," Bell said at the time.
Mayor Jones was in north Alabama Friday when the findings were released. He released the following statement:
"I am happy to put this behind me, so we move forward in a positive direction."
April Douglas was at the news conference and bring you more information as it becomes available.
