MOBILE, ALA. (WALA) - There was plenty of cheering in the McGill-Toolen gymnasium Thursday morning, but this competition involved academics, not athletics.
Teams from McGill-Toolen, Citronelle and St. Luke met to take part in the HiQ competition. It was the first match for St. Luke's which joined the contest this year.
HiQ is celebrating its 25th year highlighting academic excellence in Mobile County. Fox 10 News anchor Bob Grip has been "quizmaster" for the competition for 24 consecutive years.
McGill held an early lead at halftime and built on that lead during the second half.
The final score was McGill-Toolen 46, St. Luke 25 and Citronelle 15.
