EIGHT MILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Mobile County Sheriff's Office is investigating a meth lab explosion Thursday, Nov. 22, at a home in Eight Mile.

Our cameras were not allowed to close to the residence due to safety.

"This evening, we got a call to a residence off Vergos Drive in the Eight Mile area about an explosion or multiple explosions and a fire. We responded to the location, and we found two vehicles engulfed in flames and a residence," said Sgt. Joe Mahoney.

Narcotics investigators were still combing through the rubble but those with the sheriff's office said there are clues as to what happened.

"Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, it does appear that it might have been meth related. We can't say that definitively, but all indications are that," Mahoney said.

Mahoney said precursors for meth were found at the scene including propane tanks and lithium batteries. Deputies are still trying to find who is responsible.

"When we got there and the fire department got there we could not find anyone inside the house, and no one appeared to be in the vehicles," said Mahoney.

Mahoney said local hospitals were also called, looking for burn victims. So far, no one has been found associated to the apparent blast.

Deputies said no other homes were harmed in the blast. Anyone with information is asked to call the Mobile County Sheriff's Office
