MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A hearing has been rescheduled for accused murderer Carlos Kennedy.
Results of Kennedy’s mental evaluation were due back Thursday, November 17, but those with the district attorney’s office say all of the results aren’t back yet so the hearing had to be moved.
The hearing was set to be heard by Judge Rusty Johnston, who ordered the evaluation after Kennedy asked to represent himself in the capital murder case.
The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office says the evaluation will determine Kennedy’s competency to stand trial and his mental state at the time of the crime.
Kennedy is accused of killing retired realtor Zoa White in June of 2010 in her home. Authorities believe the murder weapon was a hammer.
Kennedy has plead not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. If he’s convicted, he could face the death penalty.
The hearing has been postponed until December 15.
