MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile Fire-Rescue has purchased new trucks to add to their arsenal.
In February, we told you the MFRD added five new trucks - three rescue trucks and two ladder trucks. The three rescue trucks are in service. The two ladder trucks are still awaiting new equipment to be installed before they are put into service.
According to firefighter and driver Randy Holbein when it comes to these new trucks, the firefighters will be able to perform their jobs more effectively and most importantly - safely.
"The closed cab that we'll have for the privates is going to be really nice because that is a new NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standard which Mobile is trying to adapt to," he said. "Along with the stability control, is going to prevent a lot of serious accidents from rollovers."
Mobile Fire-Rescue PIO Steve Huffman says the new trucks are replacing older trucks that were in service for 26 years.
