Morning fire destroys abandoned home

MOBILE, Ala. - Mobile Fire-Rescue say a house was destroyed by fire Friday morning.

It happened at a home in the 6000 block of Cary Hamilton Road.

Officials say a neighbor called the fire department after seeing smoke and flames coming from the home. When firefighters got there, the house was fully engulfed.

Although the house still had power connected to it, it appears that it was abandoned. Fire officials say it looks like the fire started in a front bedroom and spread. Damage is estimated at $50,000. Authorities say the house is a total loss.

No injuries were reported.
