MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile police are investigating a possible drive-by shooting after a bullet came crashing through a living room wall.
It happened at a home in the area of South Ann and Grove streets Tuesday evening, November 13.
“It could have been my life,” said resident Stacey Turner, who was inside the home at the time. “It could have been my mom, you know, my kids!”
FOX10 News was the only crew on the scene within minutes after the shooting.
Turner said the events unfolded after she had been sitting on the front porch of her home. She said she watched as a suspicious vehicle drove slowly past the residence.
Turner told FOX10 she walked indoors after observing that same vehicle drive up her street a second time.
Once inside, she said a single bullet flew through the wall.
“I jumped and ran to the back,” said Turner. “I told my mom and them to get to the back, everybody get to the back and I was just - just nervous.”
She said police told her it was a .32 caliber bullet that pierced the living room wall.
Turner said several family members, including her 1-year-old grandchild, were inside the home at the time.
Neighbors told FOX10 they heard the gunfire as well.
“All I know is I just saw one car slowly come past when the shot went off,” said one neighbor who did not want to be identified.
Turner believes her family was targeted over an ongoing domestic dispute.
Investigators left the scene to search for the gunman after snapping pictures and taking witness statements.
