Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Dearborn and Government streets dies

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile police officials said they responded to reports of a man struck by a vehicle on Government and Dearborn streets at 2 p.m. on December 27.

They said upon arrival, officers found an adult male lying in the roadway and had he been struck by a small truck.  Mobile Fire Rescue responded and transported the victim to the hospital where he later died. 

Investigators said they have determined that the driver of the vehicle was turning east onto Government Street from Dearborn Street when he struck the man in the roadway. 

Police have identified the victim as 52-year-old James Ellis.

Traffic Homicide Detectives will continue to investigate the incident.  If anyone has information, please call the Mobile Police Department at 208-7211.
