MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile police said they are looking for a person of interest in the death of a 23-year-old woman.

Cynthia McCoy was found dead in her Azalea Pointe apartment on Labor Day . Now, police said they want to talk to a person of interest in the case.

"Detectives have continued their investigation and have a bunch of information they'd like to follow up on. Through this, they've actually determined an individual, Mr Deon Holmes. At this point he'd not considered a suspect, but he's someone they'd like to talk to," said Cpl. Chris Levy.

According to reports, friends found McCoy shot to death, and her two children, both under the age of 3, were at the apartment with her. Levy said they believe Holmes has valuable information.

"That's what we determined from the investigation is that there is a relationship between Mr. Holmes and Miss McCoy, and that we do believe he's probably the last person to see her alive," Levy said.

Levy said Holmes has been known to frequent the areas of Barrett's Lane, Timothy Street in Prichard, and Mayor Street in Prichard.

"He is aware that he needs to speak with detectives, because we have spoken to people who have spoken to him and have notified him he's needed," Levy said.

Police said if Holmes continues to avoid questioning, they make take further action.

If you have any information on this case or the whereabouts of Holmes, you're asked to call Mobile police.
