MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Mobile Police Department is investigating one of its own. Chief Micheal T. Williams confirmed Tuesday, November 6 an internal investigation is underway.
FOX10 News asked Chief Williams specifically what the department is investigating.
“At this point, I will not divulge that, but I will confirm that we are conducting an investigation,” said Williams.
Multiple sources confirmed Captain DeWayne Hill Sr. is at the center of the investigation. Hill is the commander of the third precinct, which serves the Midtown area.
FOX10 went to the precinct twice in one week to try and talk to Hill. We were told both times he wasn't there.
However, we have learned more about Hill's reputation within the community.
According to Mobile City Councilman John Williams, Hill is known as one of the best.
In part, Williams said:
“We may find no finer police officer in Mobile or maybe even the state of Alabama. He has a reputation in this city for being an absolutely outstanding officer.”
FOX10 News is working to confirm some of the details of the investigation. Check back with Fox10tv.com as more comes out on this developing story.
