PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - FOX10's Letisha Bush reports much of Prichard is in the dark following a tornado. The tornado was confirmed by the National Weather Service.

Folks can't get too far down Telegraph and Chin streets. Power lines are down and hanging on resident's fences and into their yards.

All traffic lights are out in the area.

One witness said they heard something that sounded like a tornado and saw debris flying through the air.

There were initial reports of a person trapped in a home but that has not been confirmed. However, fire crews are in that area.

As our drew drove through downtown Prichard, they report the buildings seem to be stable and there isn't much damage.

They also spotted emergency vehicles at city hall, which is also in the dark.

FOX10 will have more from Prichard as it becomes available.
