MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The National Weather Service encourages people to have a plan for possible Christmas Day severe weather.
Warning Coordination Meteorologist Jeff Garmon said some computer models are indicating the potential for strong tornadoes.
“Tornadoes that would be stronger than what we saw track through the heart of Mobile the other day," said Garmon.
Garmon said the best way to prepare is to have a plan in place.
“Just have a plan. And be able to act quickly. We tell folks, if you have to act very quickly go to the center of your home. Get in a small interior room and take shelter there if you have too," said Garmon.
Garmon suggests folks to buy a weather radio and stay up to date with the latest weather updates.
“The weather radio is there to wake you up so that you can turn on the TVand find out more information,” said Garmon.
