Officer hit in face, suspects arrested

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile police say two men have been arrested on several charges after they were questioned and then hitting an officer in the face.

Police say an officer saw two men at the 6100 block of Girby Road and noticed a strong smell of marijuana. As the officer began to investigate, the suspects, identified as Labarron K. Watkins and George E. Stanton, became disorderly.

Officials say as the officer called for backup, the suspects began to hit the officer in the face. The officer was able to take them into custody.

Watkins and Stanton were charged with second degree assault, second degree possession of marijuana, failure to obey a police officer and resisting arrest.
