MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile fire investigators said a meth lab caused a fire in a downstairs condo that burned a male occupant.

Authorities said the condo is located on Riverbend Drive off Old Military Road.

Officials said call was received at approximately 2:16  p.m. and when firefighters arrived they reported nothing visible in the three story, wood frame structure initially.

Investigators said firefighters were met by the three occupants and firemedics began treating the injured male. He was transported to USAMC with second and third degree burns over 75 percent of his body.

Authorities said once firefighters made entry, they discovered heavy fire and smoke in the living room and kitchen combo. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The Bureau of Fire Prevention is investigating.
