MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - One man died after an apartment fire blazed at Oak Knoll Apartments on Navco Road Saturday night.

Firefighters encountered heavy flames and smoke from an upstairs and downstairs window on the scene around 6 p.m . on Nov. 10 after they received the call.

As firefighters extinguished the fire, they discovered a male victim on the floor in a bedroom downstairs. They removed him from the building.

Firemedics took him and began treatment before he was transported to USAMC with burns and possible smoke inhalation. The victim later died from his injuries.

One firefighter was also transported to a local hospital for a cut to the hand.

Mobile Fire-Rescue Investigators remained on the scene Saturday night, trying to determine what caused it. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is also investigating.
