PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - Prichard Police Chief Jimmie Gardner expects a quick arrest following a shooting that happened Monday night.

"The subject was at the Two Dragons store on Turner Road. And an unknown black male came up, looked in the store, canvassed the area to see if anyone was standing there and as the subject came out he shot the subject two times," Gardner said.

Gardner said the victim was shot in the wrist and chest.

"Victim is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital but was taken by south-flight to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola," Gardner said.

Gardner said this was not a random incident.

"In fact, the case is still being investigated but however, many of these cases are cases where both the victim and suspect are familiar with each other, there's a connection. I think you'll find that in this case the same thing," said Gardner.

Gardner said he didn't want to release the suspects name due to the impeding arrest.

Gardner said no one else was injured during the incident.
