Pediatric doctor convicted of attempting to entice

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The United States Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama, Kenyen R. Brown, announced that Murali Krishna Aalabasavaraja Reddy, 30, of Mobile, was convicted of attempting to entice a teenage boy on the Internet.

On May 23, 2012, Reddy used a computer, a cellular telephone, and the internet to attempt to entice and persuade a fifteen-year old boy to engage in oral sex . The evidence at trial showed that Reddy, a pediatric resident, communicated with what he thought was the 15-year old boy via email and text messaging before arranging to meet the child at his apartment complex for oral sex that afternoon.

Reddy will be sentenced in January by Chief United States District Judge William Steele.

The charge carries a minimum penalty of 10 years in custody and a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, and a fine of up to $250,000.

The Saraland Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation and presented the case for prosecution to the United States Attorney’s Office.

Assistant United States Attorney Sean P. Costello and Maria E. Murphy handled the trial of the case on behalf of the United States.
