PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - UPDATE: Thursday, November 29, 2012 - Prichard police confirm Trey Hendon turned himself in Wednesday night, November 28.

Wednesday, November 28, 2012 - Prichard police are looking for a person of interest in connection with a murder.  Investigators said they want to question 20-year-old Trey Anthony Hendon about the crime.

Alfred and Carolyn Johnson buried their 35-year-old son nearly two weeks ago, but they still don't have closure about the death.

"It make it that much harder to not know exactly what happened.  All we know is we lost our son," Carolyn Johnson said.

The parents said Alfred Tremayne Johnson left the gas station in the Snug Harbor area of Prichard around 10 p.m. on November 10.  He was shot moments later on Coal Street. He died at the hospital the next day.

"One of my cousins came here, this was on a Saturday night, and knocked on the door and was telling me that your son had gotten shot," the father said.

Alfred Johnson Jr. said his son had been at a friend’s birthday celebration that night.

After he was shot, Johnson managed to drive himself to a friend’s house about a quarter of mile away where they called 911.

Johnson said his son was conscious and talking to police he got to the scene.

"He told the officers that some fellows was trying to rob him, and he'd told them to get back. After, he'd got in the car, and they started firing at him, and he fired back five times," he said.

The Johnsons said they are glad police have released the name of a person of interest who could shed new light on the investigation.

The Johnsons said they this is the first positive news they're heard since their son's murder, and they hope it will lead investigators to his killer.

Police said Trey Hendon also goes by the nickname "Trey-Trey".   His last known address was on  Draper Street in Mobile.
