MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Authorities said three suspects broke into a Mobile apartment early Thursday morning by throwing a cinder block through the glass door and attacking a woman living there.

Officials said a large wood board is now where a glass door used to be at an apartment off Washington Avenue in Mobile.

"When we spoke to the victims, it's actually a couple that lives inside the apartment. The female stated that three males made entrance by throwing a brick or a block through the sliding glass door," said Ashley Rains with Mobile police

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Police said the couple tried to hide in the apartment.

"They were able to find her hiding place, did strike her a couple of times demanding money which she said she had none," Rains said.

Police said they know at least two of the three suspects were armed.

No one at the apartment complex wanted to comment on what happened, and no one was home at the apartment where the incident occurred. Neighbors said the woman who was beaten was treated at a local hospital.

Police said they do not believe this was a random attack.

Police said two of the suspects were dressed in all black, both are described in their mid 30s. A description of the third suspect was not given.
