MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Business had returned to a normal pace at the Hardee's on Schillinger Road during the lunch hour Tuesday.
But when two men walked into the restaurant around 9:30 Monday night armed with guns, it was anything but business as usual.
The suspects demanded money, but police say that's not all they wanted.
"After taking that money they then took the keys of one of the employees, jumped in that employee’s car, and then left the scene," Corporal Chris Levy said.
Theresa Wilkenson and her daughter Heather found out about the robbery after eating lunch there Tuesday.
"That's awful. I hate to hear that, and I hope they catch them," Wilkenson said.
An officer spotted the employees stolen car in the nearby Westside Baseball Complex.
Police don't know if the suspects drove the stolen car to where their own vehicle was parked, but the car did turn out to have something useful in it.
"They're even actually able to locate some evidence from the scene. So, it's going to help with the investigation," Cpl. Levy said.
The restaurant also has surveillance cameras, and investigators are working to recover that video.
Police described one suspect as a black male with a dark complexion, 5'9" to 6'0", 150 to 190 lbs, low hair cut, wearing a black hat with a purple bill and the letter K on it a black shirt and blue jeans.
Black male with a light complexion 5'4" to 5'7", 150 lbs., a blue and white bandana covering his face, yellow long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and possibly black and purple shoes.
If you have any information on the robbery call Mobile Police at 208-1700.
