CHICKASAW, Ala. (WALA) - Chickasaw Police Department said 44-year-old Jeffery Jordan turned himself in Thursday for allegedly shooting into an occupied building.

"Mr. Jordan's son was fired from Chatom Tires and he thought he was fired without cause. He became upset," said  Sgt. Tommy McDuffie.

Police said Jordan was so upset  he went to Chatom Tires with a shotgun. Witnesses said the suspect pulled into the tire-changing area and fired a shot through the window of his vehicle.

Workers said he was shooting toward an employee, but authorities say they don't know if the suspect was aiming at a particular person. Investigators said bullets flew past some tire workers. No one was injured.

"I didn't think he was going to shoot it. And when he shot it, I dipped," said one worker who didn't want to be identified.

Authorities said Jordan also had a knife and he decided to use it.

"Evidently Mr. Jordan dropped the shotgun and chased one of the employees, who he thought was responsible for his son being fired, and he supposedly hit him in the lip with the handle of the knife," said McDuffie.

Investigators said the incident happened in on June 4. Thursday, July 19 they got a break in the case they were looking for.

"We've been looking for him, talking to his family trying to get him to turn himself in which he finally did last night," said McDuffie.

Jeffery is charged with discharging a gun into an occupied building and menacing.
