PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - A 17-year-old was arrested Wednesday in connection with Racine Avenue shooting that happened over the weekend. FOX10 News is learning more about the possible whereabouts of the suspect from the time of the shooting to his arrest.

Prichard police said they stopped Trayon Washington twice before his arrest by Mobile police.

Mobile police said Washington gunned 40-year-old Wendy Fisher down Saturday after she yelled at the car he was in to slow down.

He was arrested for the crime Wednesday, but Prichard Police Chief Jimmie Gardener said in the days in between they actually had two run-ins with him.

"In both encounters, we had no idea who the individuals were," said Gardner.

The first, Gardner said, was in response to a suspicious vehicle report. Gardner said Washington and another person were stopped without any problem.

Officials said there was more to the second incident.

Gardner said when the officer approached the vehicle, Washington and another subject punched the gas.

"After the subject took off in the car, the officer actually shot in an attempt to shoot the tires out to keep from being run over or being involved in a chase," said Gardner.

Gardner said the office lost the subjects on I-65. At that point, he said they put out a BOLO, or be on the lookout, alert for the subjects.

Officials said Washington was arrested not long after, but on the murder charge.

"It’s because of the effort of the Mobile Police Department detectives the citizens and, of course, the information that our agency was able to share as well," said Gardner.

District Attorney Ashley Rich said Washington was denied bond Thursday for the murder of Fisher.

"There’s no chance of him getting out of jail, and he's exactly where he needs to be," said Rich.
