According to church officials, a contractor has attached steel cables to the buttresses on the east side of the church and anchored them to the foundation.
The plan then is for steel beams to be dropped into anchor the roof and reinforce the walls.
Church officials also say The History Museum of Mobile has offered to keep archives in a safe place until the building is safe. The artifacts have been moved to the temporary home.
Steve Alexander is checking on the work being done at the church. He'll have a report on FOX10 News at 5 p.m.
