A special primary election was held Tuesday, February 26, 2013 to fill a vacancy in District 97 of the Alabama House of Representatives. The seat was left open after Dr. Yvonne Kennedy, of Mobile, died in December.

Seven Democratic candidates are vying for the seat. The Alabama Republican Party says, no candidates from its party qualified for the race.

With 31 of 32 boxes reporting, it appears Adline Clarke and Karlos Finley will compete in a runoff on April 9.

The results are as follows:

  • Adline C. Clarke: 921
  • Karlos Finley: 556
  • William Carroll: 397
  • Jefferey Ray Jones: 13
  • Levi Wright Jr.: 41
  • Kimberly Williams Pettway: 269
  • Ronnie L. Williams: 82

The general election would then be held on May 21, 2013.
