MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Campers and RV owners are pouring into downtown Mobile ahead of all the Mardi Gras celebrations.
Under the I-10 overpass in the downtown area, you’ll find RV city is surely coming to life.
Many revelers were out this week preparing their campers for the long month ahead.
“We're setting up. We're setting up our burn barrels,” said 4-year RV City veteran, Phillip Eddins. “We're getting all our firewood setup. So we don't have to bring them down during the parades and take away from all the fun.”
Eddins says many of his fellow campers are local and love this time of year. He said there is nothing like Mardi Gras in the Port city.
“It's about celebrating Mardi Gras where it really started, and it’s about good southern hospitality. All I can say is everybody is a big family down here,” said Eddins.
Some living in RV city expect to start the party this weekend with a DJ and dance floor. The celebration is expected to last right through Fat Tuesday.
