SATSUMA, Ala. (WALA) - Hundreds of people turned out for a "Meet the Candidates" Forum in Satsuma Tuesday at the Steele Creek Lodge.
Twelve of the 13 candidates running for mayor and city council attended. Each candidate was given a maximum of five minutes to speak.
Mayor William Stewart is seeking re-election and Paul J. Murray is running against him.
Three candidates are vying for the Place 1 city council seat. They are: Willliam (Bubba) Hamblin, Emily Keeney, and Terry Gray. Gray was the only candidate who chose not to attend the forum.
The two candidates seeking the Place 2 seat are: E.L. (Bubba) Phillips, and James M.(Mike) Butler.
There are three candidates for Place 3: Incumbent Pratt Monk, Palmer Gatlin, and Matthew (Matt) Dial.
Incumbent Thomas (Tom) Williams is unopposed in Place 4.
The Place 5 candidates are incumbent William T. (Bill) Black, and Mark A. Barlow.
