MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - There were some tense moments along Moffett road Friday afternoon after a school bus carrying Blount High school students was involved in a serious accident.

Police said two students, the bus driver, and the driver of a second vehicle were all transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said the school bus was driving eastbound on Moffett Road, when it appears the driver of a second vehicle ran a stop sign on University Ave. and attempted to turn onto the busy roadway.

The school bus, which officials said was brand new, sustained serious damage to the front-end.

Frankonia Battiste said she got the phone call late this afternoon that her son Monteil Fluker  was among the injured.

“He's pretty shaken up right now, but I think the initial shock is wearing off of him,” she said.

Fluker sustained injuries to his legs, but is expected to be fine.

The accident remains under investigation.
