Second teen charged as an adult in LeFlore shooting

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Late Thursday afternoon, authorities said another 16-year-old was officially charged as an adult in connection with the shooting at LeFlore High School.

Julian Woods was moved from Strickland Youth Center to Metro Jail. He’s charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Woods was just 15 years old when the shots were fired at two students March. No one was hit.

Romello Williams, 16, was also charged in connection with the shooting.

Williams was previously denied bond, but his attorney Scott McNally said they aren’t giving up just yet.

"We’re going to continue to ask for bond.  We want a bond. We expect that we should get a bond. The law says we should get a bond in this case,” McNally said.

Williams is charged with two counts of attempted murder for a shooting rampage at LeFlore High School.

At his bond hearing, District Attorney Ashley Rich described video showing Williams and two other boys staking out his victim.

After parading himself as a student of LeFlore, Rich told the judge Williams opened fire.

"When the victim was running away and they were firing shots at him, one of his friends said, ‘Hey run this way.’ Whereupon Romello turned the gun onto the second friend and then began shooting at him as well, towards the building," Rich said.

She said it's a miracle no one was injured.

Rich said Williams was permanently suspended from Murphy and was suspended from Davidson until the end of the school year at the time.

He used his old uniform to gain access to the halls of LeFlore, something Rich said he had done in the past.

"He was dressed as a Murphy student and he began tapping on the window disturbing the students in class. And he did that not only once, but twice,” Rich said.

Rich said Williams was arrested for trespassing, adding to his juvenile record which includes charges for marijuana and burglary.

McNally said this is just one version of the story.

"Of course, people aren't convicted on versions from the district attorney’s office," he said.

Since Woods is now being charged as an adult, he and Williams will be co-defendants.
