Senior Bowl Seafood Jubilee a success

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - It's an annual tradition, and a Senior Bowl seafood celebration. Tuesday night, January 22, the game hosted the Seafood Jubilee at the Convention Center.

It was a mad dash to get into the event. At 6:30 p.m. on the dot, and folks shoveled in shoulder to shoulder.

"There are a lot of people, a lot of chaos," said first-timer Ben Wood. "But it's a good time. It smells good. They've got a lot of good food and free drinks."

Darrell Williams, a local and former Vigor and Auburn football player, goes to the event every year.

"It's important for the city and does a lot for us economy-wise," Williams said. "It brings a lot of tourism to the area and lets people know what we're offering here in Mobile. I'm pretty sure the food is going to be fun, but I'm excited about seeing the players and talking to some of the coaches and just having a good time."

Hospitality committee chairman Doug Anderson expected well over 1,200 people to pack the convention center.

"Senior Bowl has always been known for its great hospitality for the last 50 or 60 years, and we take a lot of pride in that we invest a lot of time and money into putting on these events, and a lot of people enjoy the events during the week more-so than Saturday, I think," Anderson said.
