MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - It's that time of year bargain hunters have been waiting for deep discounts and price cuts.

FOX10 News caught up with college student Terrell Patrick. He said he has been shopping for two days.

He'd already been to nine stores before hitting JC Penney in Mobile around 4:30 a.m. Black Friday morning.

"I have been to about nine stores," said Patrick. "I have been to Old Navy, Walmart, and K-mart and now I am here shopping for myself because I got stuff for other people."

Patrick has his eye on a crock pot on sale for $8. He said it will make him a big hit back in the dorms.

"Yes, an $8 crock pot. I can make Rotel Dip," said Patrick. "I am looking for other things, too, to enhance my dorm room and everyday college life."

Shoppers flooded the store, including the experienced like Patrick and those new to the Black Friday frenzy.

While some stores opened on Thanksgiving to holiday shoppers, JC Penney did not.

Manager Rick Bailey said it hasn't hurt sales one bit.

"We respected and support the traditional Thanksgiving holiday so people could spend time at home with their families and our employees could, too. It has not hurt sales at all. This has been one of the best openings we've had in a long time," said Bailey.

Push, pull or drag  - folks did whatever it took to take the purchases out.

As for Patrick, he said it is worth getting out early to cash in on the deals. Overall he said he was pleased with what he got.

"I got an $8 blender, a griddle and two pillows," said Patrick. "But no crock pot. I guess we will just have to use the microwave. "

So, when it comes to finding a good deal on this Black Friday most shoppers said they scored big.
